Aufnahmestandort: Asitzbahn Bergstation. (1750 m)      Fotografiert von: Jan Lindgaard Rasmussen
Gebiet: Kitzbüheler Alpen      Datum: 2011-08-09, 15:25.
This view must have been seen by many people, as it is from the top of the Asitzbahn in Leogang. No doubt popular in wintertime for skiing, but also very overrun in summer with hikers and mountain-bikers. Sadly, much of the view was clouded from west to the southeast, but this showpiece luckily was visible. The Leoganger Steinberge and Berchtesgadener Alpen forms an impressive wall from here and eastwards. A thin layer of snow had been powdered over the highest parts, and the clouds were creeping low over the highest tops.

Pano made from 8 pics in 2 rows. 57 mm, f/13, 1/250 sec, iso-400, Stitched with Hugin, some cable-removing with GIMP, and scaling and sharpening with Irfan View.

The pano seems sharper when opened in Irfan View, don't know why.

The pano has all, a view into the valley, a mountain ridge that serves as a foreground and the nicely looking rocky silhouette of the Berchtesgadener Alpen, but it also shows some over-exposures, mainly in the bright sky. Some areas look like having full brightness ("FFFF").

IrfanView: The software, also Lightroom and many other top dogs, is using a black background to avoid color irritations. I think this is much better than the light grey background here. But overall I think it is only an illusion. Greetings HJ

Hello Hans-Jürgen...You are right about the expotion; I had never done a pano before, but on this trip I decided to try it out. I thought I should take photos with fixed exposure, but having switched just two months before from analog to digital, I knew nothing about white-balance. Also, I wasn't really skilled in judging the exposure on site; actually most of my photos are more or less over-exposed when I started out with digital. LG Jan.

Reload.
I have tried to take the top of the overexpotion. I tried to darken and de-contrast the pics (JPG), in Canon DPP. Then I stitched them in Hugin, and tried to darken even more. However, the colours got a bit distorted, and I found it hard to get them right again. I ended up simply reducing the saturation in IrfanView. Then scaled and sharpened in IrfanView. Hope it feels better. Not a hammer, I know. LG Jan.

I like to colors and the whole mystic scenery a lot. But I think, there is a stitching problem at the right hand side of the Hochkönig-Stock. I marked it.
kind regards Christoph
