Location: Cima Sassara (2894 m)      by: Pedrotti Alberto
Area: Brentagruppe      Date: 19-10-2014
After a night in the nearby Bivacco Bonvecchio, with Edoardo we went on the summit of Cima Sassara to wait for the sunrise. Here is the sight short before that moment.
Short right of the summit cross one meets the prominent snowy triangle of the Presanella, which a few seconds after was going to be the first reached by sunlight. When the Betrachter will reach it as well, may he stop for a moment and dedicate a thought to Martina, a former student of mine, who right one week before was swept down from that mountain by an avalanche, dying at the age of 21.
To her, and to the tremendous sorrow of her junior sister (among my students as well) went my thought for the most of an incredible day spent in face of that summit, the Presanella, of which incidentally I have plenty of wonderful memories.
How strange is our love for these objects, the mountains, who - perfect interpreters of the fate - can decide to give you everything, like here, or - with the same ease - decide to steal you everything!

There's nothing more to add, just to enjoy in silence.

cari saluti Patrick

Thanks to everybody.
Experts: what is happening with the trajectory at 350° and also at 325°?? Note that the sharp corner at 325° is less evident in the panorama, being separated from the other one and peripheral, but in the original Einzelbild, where they lie in front or each other, it is no less noticeable.

Jens: yes, in silence, like we were actually up there.

Of course the image is wonderful, well made and a marvellous impression of the moment and all the things about mountains that you've written and that we love. Above all we can think, seeing this impression of eternity, of friends and loved people that have died in the mountains, and, besides, that we all will have to die one time.

The combination of this amazing morning light together with the borrows in the sky are a great pleasure!
