Zweiter voller Tag im Valpelline. Es zog uns auf die einsame Südseite des Tals, auf der sich der Grat von Matterhorn und Dent d'Herens bis knapp über die Stadt Aosta zieht. Durch den angelegten Fernwanderweg zieht sich ein gut ausgebauter und markierter Weg von Closé oberhalb Oyace (1457m) zum Col de Vessonaz (2783m). Daß man bis zur alten Steinbrücke über die beeindruckende Schlucht erst mal über 100m absteigen muss, kam allerdings als Überraschung. Dafür geht es dann erst durch schönen Wald und dann durch Almgelände in die Comba Vessonaz. Weiter oben wartete der Schnee, der am Vortag gefallen war (siehe #37825) und wir waren gespannt auf die Bedingungen...
Second full day in Valpelline. We were drawn to the lonely south side of the valley, where the ridge of the Matterhorn and Dent d'Herens stretches to just above the city of Aosta. A well developed and marked trail leads from Closé above Oyace (1457m) to Col de Vessonaz (2783m). The fact that you have to descend over 100m to the old stone bridge over the impressive gorge came as a surprise. The way to the Comba Vessonaz is first through beautiful forest and then through alpine pastures. Further up, the snow that had fallen the day before was waiting for us (see #37825) and we were curious about the conditions...
