Location: Mondeval (2300 m)      by: Alvise Bonaldo
Area: Dolomiten      Date: 12.7.2009
In 1987 a well preserved burial of a young male (perhaps a hunter) was found under a big rock on the right (east) side of Mondeval plateau, above Val Fiorentina. Carbon-14 datation confirmed its age: more or less seven thousand years from today!!This is the most ancient mesolithic discovery in highlands of whole Europe, nearly two thousands years older than Oetzi.
Thanks to isolation and silence of this site, and its incredible beautiness, it's not difficult to feel "mesolithic" sensations in here.

Fantastica, dà proprio quell'idea

Fascinating, Alvise. Not only because of the interesting story behind, but also especially for me, because I have seen and photgraphed those peaks so often this year without being able to look "over the edge".
