you've asked in the previous pano from Walter for a little bit more of sharpness. Here, in your pano, I think the software sharpening was a little bit exaggerated as there are eye-catching white edges at the mountain silhouettes against the sky background. Local contrast is not equivalent to resolution. Furthermore, exaggerated software sharpening reduces the JPEG quality when the file size is kept constant. What do you think?
Best regards - Daniel
P.S. (2007-02-09) The reduced software sharpening makes this pano look much better!
basicly I agree with you.
Looking at all beautiful panos on AP I found that many of them were sharp and contrasted.
At the beginning I posted pictures without any postproduction modification (eg. sharpening, contrasting, lighting, etc.)
Now I found the results are better with a little bit of postproduction, and sharp images make mountain more detailed.
In this case...it was too much.
In my defense I could say that I was working on a laptop with an old and pale screen, so looking the result on a better screen I had your same impression.
So I reworked picture, and softened it.
The gain was evident also in JPG compression, passing from a poor 81% to 90%.
BTW....Could you help for missing peak description (I know you were in those places last year) :P ?
Tschuess
Marco
I think that Swiss are unbeatable in terms of orienting tables with peaks name...on Gemsstock there are 8 tables with description of the panorama.
Moreover there's a good free source www.gipfelderschweiz.ch that helps descripting.
We definitely need such tables on our Italian peaks :)
Whom do I have to say thank to? :)
I think I found someone that loves more than me recognizing peaks ;-)
I'll shortly send you en e-mail for tha matter of Bernina.
Liebe Gruesse
Marco
Viele Grüße
Now do some labelings on the basis of AdS, you have the Piz Tiarms (2918m) doubly. You should delete him/it with the height-statement in clamps.
Many greetingses of Walter
I *must* go again to Andermatt...my dream is a Gemsstock 360° ;-)
