First walk of a ten-day trip in the mountains of Piedmont. A late start after travelling from the Alba area (-> PP). The good road from Sampeyre in the Valle Varaita, passing through Becetto, which is deserted in autumn, climbs to 1,550m. From there, the route continued in complete solitude through a luminous forest and across autumnal meadows, before tackling a steep slope to reach this lovely viewpoint summit, which is really little more than a rise along the ridge. But on this magnificent day, it was not only the nearby rocky "king" that was visible: in the distance, the Valais Alps were waving hello, and the Bernina, a full 290km away, was also clearly visible. A telephoto shot will follow.

VG, Danko.
Did you later reach also Gilba, on the other side of the Colle del Prete?
