Thank you for this! I like the Brennkogel, it is one of my personal "seven summits"... I gave this name to the mountains that I climbed during a summer bicycle tour, some years ago. If you don't laugh at the level and mixture, this is the list: Brennkogel, Klinovec, Brocken, Timmelsjochköpfl, Lovcen, Parnassos, Helmos. But the Brennkogel allowed also one nice extra: a short swim in a minimal lake few meters below the summit. A cold swim indeed, but the most panoramic that one can imagine. Maybe in the ski season this extra is not available!

@alberto, great to do this with mountainbike!! The lake you can see, it is still frozen!
@christoph, leicht zu besteigen, Abfahrt wenn man will in der direkten Gipfelflanke (bei law-sicheren Verhältnissen), durchaus steil.

Yes, I have checked with old photos: the "lake" was precisely there!
Actually, I did not have a camera with me in 2003, but I have images from a later visit in 2007. Incidentally, I discovered that at the time the cross was perfectly in axis (the weather not):
