Gebiet: Ortler Alpen      Datum: 15.01.2010

Thanks to its geographical location, the Cima Verda has a magnificent view. Are visible most of the mountains of Val Camonica, Val Grosina and Orobic Alps. Even the Valtellina, is clearly visible from Villa di Tirano to Grosotto. Characteristic is also the view of Monte Rosa and Marmolada. These two mountains are located between them, as the crow flies, to 310 km!

Gianluca, am I right thinking that we could have seen Passo Mortirolo if your camera position was just a few metres higher?
02.02.2010 19:51 , Arne Rönsch
for Arne: I have now scored the position of the Passo del Mortirolo 1896 m. However the road uses the Passo della Foppa 1865 m, not visible in the overview.

Thank you very, very much, Gianluca! I've never known that there is a difference between the name and the street of that quite famous Giro-Pass.
So, not surprisingly, I marked it incorrectly in my private Google-Earth-Folder. I have spent some time to compare your panoramic with the visibility in GE tonight, but your explanation is making things clear.
And, again: Great picture!
By the way: "As the crow flies" is a very nice English expression, that I have not known until now. I am sure I will use from time to time...

Ciao Arne. Do not trust too much of my English! I use the translator... Only to give information to anyone who does not speak Italian.

Excellent panorama. Great overview. Good sharpness.
It was my dream to see Monte Rosa from Marmolada - directly. But the mountains at the Tonale pass prevent that.
